USB Guard is a free software that monitors your computer for connected USB devices. There are two useful implementation of USB Guard that I can think of. One is to prevent accidental shutdown and another one is to remind you not to forget about your USB device. Once installed, you can launch the app to run in background. It monitors all connected USB devices and automatically interrupts the shutdown process if there are still USB devices attached on your computer. You'll be prompted with a warning message. You can either choose to ignore the message (this will prevent the shutdown) or proceed to shutdown, standby or hibernate the system.

Steve Jobs Passed Away At 56
Although I'm not really an Apple die hard fan, I admit that the sudden death of Steve Jobs the co-founder and a long time respected leader of Apple struck me. His vision who drives Apple to where the company stands now is greatly appreciated by million of peoples including Apple and non-Apple users. To honor a genius who contributed a lot in reinventing Technology that we are enjoying now, I dedicate this post to him. Thank you Steve.

Directly Save Gmail Attachments To Google Docs
The beauty of storing documents in the cloud is you can have them virtually anywhere you may be. Google Docs is probably the most popular free cloud service today and its integration with other Google apps makes it more appealing to cloud users. When you receive an attachment on your GMail account, you have the option to download it or view it via Google Docs. Can you see what's missing? Yes it would be better if you also save it to your Google Docs. Fortunately for Chrome users, there is an extension for that. Gmail Attachments To Docs extension allows you to save GMail attachments directly to Google Docs. Once installed, you'll have a newly added Save To Docs link beside each attachment. When you click this option, the file will automatically save to Google Docs. A new tab page will open to notify you that your file has been saved to Google Docs.

Monitor Registry For Added Startup Items With StartupEye
As a technical blogger, when I blogged about a cool software, I test it myself on my machine. This leaves me a lot of unwanted startup items. If you want to prevent any installer from adding startup registry key of the app trying to install, use StartupEye to deter them. StartupEye is a lightweight utility that runs in background and notifies you when any program try to register itself to run at system startup. This prevent any application from registering itself in startup without you knowing. Once installed, a notification will appear every time it detects registry changes. You can choose to permit the application, delete and prevent the program from adding itself in startup, or scan the file.

Evri: Another Great Looking iPad News Reader
If you'll ask me about my favorite news reader for iPad, without any second thought I would answer Flipboard. After trying Evri, my answer is still the same but if I exclude Flipboard from the choices since it is more a social magazine than a news reader then Evri is worth mentioning. Evri is relatively new in the app store, it is a free newsreader designed for iPad. Evri has a pretty clean interface and each section is divided into tabs. On its homepage are the Top News of the day. Each news are group by topics which usually the most popular searches. At the start page, you have the option to integrate Evri with your Twitter, Facebook or both accounts. This gives you the freedom to share favorite news to your family, friends and colleagues.

Create Detailed Step-by-step HOW TO Manual With StepShot
In software development projects, a project does not ends with programming phase. One phase that is equally important is documentation. Included on this phase are the user manuals and technical references. A software becomes garbage if no one understand how it works and how to deploy it. With it comes to user manuals, most people preferred a HOW TO guide format compared to a multiple page manual document. One of the best HOW TO procedure guide is a step-by-step video tutorial but the problem with this media is it is not written and cannot be printed and compiled in your manual shelves. The next best thing is Step Shot. It was designed to automated the creation of procedural guides and help manuals without having to manually adjust text and images in the document. Imagine yourself creating a step-by-step document, you usually take screenshot and put the caption to it. You do it in every step. With Step Shot installed you can the process you want to record without interruption, just select the screen from Start session recording group to start the screen capturing process. Now while your doing the process, Step Shot is recording all steps in the background. When your done with the process, click Stop to view the History of all steps you have taken. To learn more about this awesome tool, watch the video demo after the cut.
