Since PDF format is one of the most commonly used file type use for sending read-only documents such as contracts, agreements and etc. It would also be wise if you can track the versions of the same PDF documents that are being sent to you and vice versa. To compare the difference between PDF docs, you can use DiffPDF, an application specially designed for such purpose. DiffPDF has two comparison modes, Text and Appearance. In Text mode, all texts inside the two documents will be compared and the difference will be highlighted. You can also switch to Appearance mode, where graphics/images, number of pages and etc are compared. For example, it can detect the size difference between images of both PDF document. DiffPDF's usage is simple, just select two different documents via File 1 / File 2 and click Compare. After comparison process, the app will highlight any differences that are present in the documents.
Under Actions, you can customize the behavior of the app by going to the Options button. You'll have the choice to select the highlight color, outline and fill options, rule width, enable combined highlighted text mode and activate tool tips in the main window. DiffPDF works on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. I tested it under Windows 7.
