When going for a road trip, the main concern for most people is the fuel cost that you could consume during the trip. If you have an idea how much it would cost you, then you can set a reasonable budget for the whole trip. Usually people ask their friends who been to the place to get near estimates. But there is a better alternative that goes by the name of Go-Gas web service. It is an online tool that can help you calculate how much fuel you will require for the trip. The usage is simple, just visit the site, enter your car's fuel consumption, price of gas in your area and plot a route. If your using Google Chrome browser, the site will automatically get your current location to be its starting point.
To plot a route, you can either enter the address of your stops or right click it on the map. It will automatically computes the fuel consumption and the distance. The web tool supports multiple-currency. During my testing, I found out that it does not currently support route computation for 3rd world countries such as Philippines. Nevertheless it is a good tool if your living in US and Europe. This is helpful to estimate fuel cost for occasional vacation trips, carpooling or daily fuel consumption.
