Capture Data Packets On Your Network Adapter With SmartSniff

Although Firewall softwares can help you intercept unauthorized TCP/IP data packets that pass through your network adapter, sometimes you need more in depth information about the data being communicated to your computer. Nirsoft has developed SmartSniff application that can view the TCP/IP conversations (sequence of conversations between clients and servers) in ASCII mode for text-based protocols (HTTP, SMTP, POP3 and FTP) or as hex dump for non-text like DNS. To start monitoring network packets on your computer, just launch the application, select the capture method and click Start Capture from File Menu.

You can export or save packet summaries by a right click on one of the data item and select the option from the context menu. You can also generate an HTML report for each communication from the same context menu.

SmartSniff works on any Windows version including Windows 7 which I used to test this application.
