Move Your Windows User Profile Directory

Move Your Windows User Profile DirectoryThe default location of Windows user profiles is on Windows operating system drive "x:\users", where x is the drive letter. Once the operating system gets corrupted, all your profile data can be compromise. There is no built-in Windows 7 feature to change the default user profile directory but there is a portable tool for this task. Profile Relocator is a free application that allows the re-locating of the Windows Users profile directory in few steps. Once re-located, any created profiles will appear in the new location in their entirety.

Change location of user profile directory

Profile Relocator has detailed explanation on each step. First step is the disclaimer page where you will ask to agree. Step two is to select the new location of the user profile and then hit Start button to proceed to third and last step which is the copying process. To test if successful after the process completion, log off Windows and log back in. Create a new user account and check if it has been created in the newly specified location.
