I was rearranging my photos on my external hard drive this morning when I found out that almost 20% of my images have duplicate copies. Instead of manually deleting each duplicate copy, I tested a software that I stumbled upon recently. AntiDupl is a free app for searching of similar pictures. It can find and display duplicate images in the main graphic formats: JPEG, GIF, TIFF, BMP and PNG. The comparison is based on the contents of the files, so the program can find not only almost identical, but similar images.You can start searching duplicate images by selecting files or folders that you want to process and hit the start search button.
After the process, it will display pairs of duplicate images with information like the images file name, local folder and difference value. You can manually delete images from the result window or opt-out to use the automatic feature although auto option is limited to deleting the first or second image of a pair.
AntiDupl.net works on major 32-bit and 64-bit Microsoft operating systems and requires the Microsoft .net Framework 2.0
