Automatically Edit Hosts File In Windows 7 Using WinHost-bss
In Windows, you can block specific websites by manually editing the hosts file but this method maybe too complicated to ordinary users. If you want the easier and automatic method then you can try an opensource tool called WinHosts-bss. It is a light weight app that automatically displays all entries in the Windows WinHosts file making it easier for the user to add/remove them. Just select an entry from the list and click Delete to remove it. To add new entry, enter the IP Address, Host Name, and hit Add button to automatically include it to the WinHosts file.
Take note that the app may be detected as a virus on selected antivirus software. Don’t worry, the app is clean, just ignore the detection message. The software is available as desktop and portable application. It supports Windows 7.
