Delete Recoverable Files and Folders PermanentlyIf you still don't know... you can recover any deleted files (pressing SHIFT+DEL) using various recovery software tools. One good example is you can recover deleted photos on a memory stick using Memory Stick File Rescue. Now if you intentionally deleted these files with the intention of making it disappear forever then you can with the help of a free app called Eraser. It is a free software that can delete files permanently and make them unrecoverable. Eraser remove sensitive data from your hard drive by overwriting it several times with carefully selected patterns.


You can control what file erasure method to use. The default method is Gutmann which overwrite data in 35 passes. Set this method by going the the Settings panel. To permanently delete files, just create a new task by clicking the down arrow beside "Erase Schedule" menu. There are 4 types of tasks, Run manually, Immediately, During restart and Recurring. Choose the file or folder to erase by hitting the "Add Data" button as shown below.

Eraser Installer also add a context menu item on your Windows right-click menu so you can easily erase file/folder by right clicking it then choose Erase > Erase from the pop up menu. Eraser works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.
