Batch Rename, Copy, Move of Files Using File Grinder

Batch Rename, Copy, Move of Files Using File GrinderDigital photography is one of my hobby and to imply ownership to my photos before I share it with other people, I always make sure that I put my custom watermark and rename it all properly. A great software tool for batch renaming is the File Grinder. It is not just a program for batch file renaming, it can also copy and move files based on file name templates and multiple file format meta-tags. File Grinder is portable and opensource which you can always bring along with your USB drive stick.

With the use of File name templates, you can set a custom name for your files. For example, you can rename your files to "Fryan-" + [counter]. There are about 13 ready-to-use supported tokens. To add a template, just click the "Template Editor" button. Put your custom filename by typing any string on the template field plus choose any token to concatenate with your string. With the case of my example, I typed "Fryan-" then clicked [#] from the token list that correspond to token counter. The final template is "Fryan-[#]".

Now to use the template with the files you want to rename, just add the files by clicking "Add files" button on the app toolbar. Hit the "Process files" (thunder icon) to start the renaming process. File Grinder works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. It requires .NET Framework 3.5 SP1.
